POSITION VACANT

Community Development Worker – Maternity Relief

Applications are invited for the full time maternity relief position of Community Development Worker for 12 months. Duties will include assisting in the identification of community needs and implement programs outlined in Council’s Community Strategic Plans and working with other community groups and organisations to strengthen the social fabric, safety and amenities in the Coonamble Shire. The successful applicant should ideally have previous experience and suitable community service and/or development qualifications.

The position is classified at Grade 9 of Council’s Salary Structure with a salary to be negotiated in the range $68,483 to $79,278, depending upon qualifications and experience.  Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2017.

Job Description

This permanent position is responsible for supervising the day to day operation of the Shire’s parks and gardens, recreational and other public facilities.  The successful applicant should have relevant experience in horticulture, with the ability to lead, supervise and manage staff in a team environment. Driver’s licence and Construction Induction (White) Card are required.

The position is classified at Grade 5 of Council’s Salary Structure with a salary to be negotiated in the range $50,939 to $58,969 depending upon qualifications and experience.  Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2017.

How can I ensure that I submit the best application possible?

So that your application is competitive, ensure that you submit a current resume, at least two referees with current contact details, a written response to the selection criteria and short covering letter. When will I be notified?

After a position has closed, interviews are usually held one week later. All unsuccessful applicants are notified via mail at this stage. If you are successful in gaining an interview, please allow 7 working days for Council to contact you. If you were the successful applicant you will be contacted via phone. All unsuccessful applicants will be notified in writing. 

How do I know if I got an interview?

Council will contact you to arrange a suitable time for an interview shortly after the application closing date.  

I left something out of my application

Information can be added to your application at any time until the closing date. After this time, if you are successful in gaining an interview you can bring any additional information to the interview.

Can I put my application on file for future jobs?

Council maintains a register of people seeking future employment opportunities; however you are encouraged to apply for specific positions that may be advertised by Council in the Coonamble Times newspaper and website. It cannot be guaranteed that if you have submitted a general application you will be considered for a specific position automatically.
